365 project: Week 4

Posted by Natalie in photography

4 weeks down, 48 weeks to go!

There was a bit more snow in London early on in the week, ending up with a stunning weekend of blue skies. I managed to capture a bit of everything these last 7 days: a (lame) attempt at self portraiture, British rail, weekend crafting, more London street scenes and even some wildlife :)

Here’s the 21st to 27th January…

365 project

Day 21/365: Backyard snow in the blue light of dawn

Day 22/365: Self portrait(ish) with my new baby

Self portraits are one thing I tend to avoid like the plague, I always feel awkwardly un-photogenic. I do however want to document my life and hate the idea of taking thousands of photos around the world and not placing myself in the frame enough. So, a bit of a secret goal for this 365 project is to get a bit better at that…and I guess this is a start!

Day 23/365: A British rail station with doors in 3 shades of green & more pretty snow.

Day 24/365: Nothing like a good comedy pub sign

I love photographing signs on my travels, so this is a good reminder to take more 365 project photos like this from day-to-day London life.

Day 25/365: Font & reflection

I spent a while trying to get this image just right and even though I’m not sure it’s 100% there, it’s all good practice I’m sure! I’ve spied this old abandoned shop near Paddington so many times and always wanted to photograph the beautiful font on the sign. The tree reflection in the boarded-up windows was a bonus I only noticed when I stopped to look for the photo. Looking at it again now, I like the continuation of the real building on the left into the reflected buildings in the window.

Day 36/365: Ingredients for cross stitch

Looking forward to photographing the final masterpiece once this (rather tedious) stitching project is finished!

Day 27/365: A friendly Robin

Happiest with day 27! I’m ecstatic to get another animal photo…and not another pigeon! I adore robins and this little one who so kindly jumped onto my friend’s boot just long enough for me to get a few shots absolutely made my week in photos (and made my friend’s day/year).

In 2013 I’m embarking on a 365 project adventure to improve my photography and document this awesome year, which means committing to take one photo a day, every day. You can start at any time of the year if you want to join in too.

You can see all my 365 photos so far, organised by week, here.
